Product Description

Superior Electrically Insulating Boron Nitride BN Ceramic Substrate Parts Components

Boron Nitride (BN) ceramic parts are advanced components known for extreme high-temperature stability (up to 2000°C), excellent electrical insulation, and superior thermal shock resistance. Because they are easily machinable, they are frequently custom-manufactured into insulators, crucibles, nozzles, and thermal management fixtures for semiconductor manufacturing and metallurgy.

Boron Nitride (BN) Ceramic Substrate

Boron nitride (BN) ceramic substrate is a high‑performance advanced ceramic material with hexagonal crystal structure. It combines excellent thermal conductivity, superior electrical insulation, low dielectric constant and outstanding chemical inertness. With non‑toxic property, easy‑to‑machine feature and high‑temperature resistance, BN substrates are widely adopted for thermal management, high‑voltage insulation and harsh‑condition working scenarios in semiconductor, electronics and new‑energy industries.

Key Physical & Thermal Properties:
Boron Nitride—specifically the hexagonal (h-BN) form—offers a unique combination of characteristics that make it ideal for demanding engineering applications:
● Thermal Stability:
Retains its structural integrity up to 2000°C in vacuum or inert atmospheres. In air, it is typically limited to around 900°C.
● Thermal Conductivity & Shock:
Dissipates heat effectively while possessing a very low thermal expansion coefficient, preventing cracking under rapid temperature cycling.
● Electrical Insulation:
Maintains high dielectric strength and electrical resistivity even at elevated temperatures.
● Chemical Inertness & Non-Wetting:
Highly resistant to chemical attacks and will not react with or adhere to most molten metals (like aluminum, magnesium, and zinc).
● Machinability:
Has a low Mohs hardness (around 2) and a layered, self-lubricating crystal structure, allowing it to be easily machined into highly complex, custom shapes using standard tooling.

Properties of Boron Nitride (BN)
Property  Typical Value  Notes
Thermal Conductivity  Up to 400 W/m·K   Higher than Alumina/Zirconia
Electrical Resistivity  >10¹³ Ω·cm  Excellent insulation
Density ~2.1 g/cm³  Lightweight ceramic
Maximum Use Temperature ~900 °C (air), >2000 °C (inert) Depends on environment
Coefficient of Thermal Expansion   ~1–2 ×10⁻⁶ /K    Very low
Chemical Resistance  Excellent      Resistant to most molten metals

Common Applications:
Because of these properties, BN ceramic parts are frequently utilized in highly specialized industrial fields:
◆ Semiconductor Processing:

Used for high-temperature insulators, wafer handling fixtures, and parts used in crystal growth.
◆ Metallurgy:

Fabricated into crucibles, break rings in continuous casting, and nozzles for molten metal handling.
◆ Welding & Plasma:

Provides durable, heat-resistant, and electrically isolating components for plasma arc welding equipment.
